Get Involved in the People's Carnival 2010

The People's Carnival is a big event each and needs the help of many people throughout the year and on the weekend. Some fifteen thousand people passed through the gates of Alexandra Park during Carnival weekend 2009.

The whole event is managed and organised by volunteers. The three main areas of involvement, whether you are an individual, group or business, are as follows:

Volunteering

Volunteering enables you to get involved in a way to help run and manage the event on the weekend and just before. This could be drirecting people into the park, helping keep the park tidy, working behind stage with the bands, directing traffic, stewarding the Carnival Parade - to name a few jobs that need volunteers. Performing Live

There are lots of opportunities to perform at the People's Carnival Weekend. For a start there is ample space for many activities and many "natural" stages around Alexandra Park. If you want some space for your group to perform (which may be a peice of land for example)....then complete our do your own thing online form here.

We have two main, stage performance areas. The first and probably the most prestigious of course, is our main stage. Performances are limited by time on the main stage as we try to give as many local organisations as possible, the chance to perform over the weekend.

The second is the Lion's Den on the promenade which is becoming increasingly popular each year as a stage. In 2010 the Lion's Den will be the venue for the weekend long Oldham's Got Talent show.

Sponsorships
