Peoples Carnival and doing your own thing

The People's Carnival weekend consists of a Carnival Parade followed by two days of community activities and entertainment on Oldham's beautiful Alexandra Park.

There is space and room for many activities on the park and either hard surface of grass.

Activities can be sporting, educational, competetive and/or artistic in nature - or an escapologist on a ladder below from last year's event..

And its Free!

Activities and space are free to non-profit organisations, charities and community groups. But the activity must supervised and self-running.

Why do it?

Some groups might want to organise an activity just for the fun of it. Others to raise their group/individual profile and others to raise money for charity or a good cause.

Whatever the reason we will try to accomodate your requirements providing the public are being entertained.

Amount of Space

The sky is the limit on this aspect at the moment. Alexandra Park has three large fields and many other seperate plots here and there.

In the box provided you should be as clear as you though about the space you need.

We will need to plan your space. Try to indicate to us in terms of tennis court sizes. For example, half a tennis court, one tennis court, two tennis courts etc etc. The tennis court is a standard size we all recognise and your measurements dont have to be exact.

After we've got your form - which you should send as soon as possible - we will contact you about any other information we need.

Nearer Carnival 2010 we'll speak to you about the preperations you are making.
