Oldham
Carnival Weekend is a great opportunity for local charities,
community groups and clubs to raise funds, and their
profiles, to the public of the town.
The 2007 Carnival weekend attracted over 25,000 over
the two days and many groups gained new members, raised
much needed funds and built new networks with other
like-minded individuals and groups.

FREE SPACE RENTAL
First of all, lets make it clear to you that Charities,
community groups, sports clubs etc can book space
absolutely free of any charges. The only thing you
may need to splash out a little cash on is your own
stall and/or tent/marquee.
TWO DAYS OF
EVENTS
You can book to have space on the park either for
either the Saturday or Sunday shows, or both days. You must book 'full' days though.
That is, you must be on the park and set-up before
12 noon on each day you have booked and cannot leave
before 6pm (unless you have special circumstances).
This is a health and safety regulation we have implemented
to prevent the movement of vehicles - which could
cause accidents.
After you've registered with us for space, using our
online form, we will contact you, via your email address,
to confirm your booking with us.
HOW MUCH SPACE?
The sky is the limit really. Alexandra Park is a huge
park. The reason we need to know is to make sure we
can plan if you want something more than the average.
Our general rule is that you should plan for a 6m
by 3m space - this is generally adequate for an average
stall with a vehicle parked beside it.
SETTING UP
YOUR STALL
Sometime nearer the event, about a fortnight before,
you will receive a pack from us containing all the
details you'll need to know. We have to be fairly
strict with our procedures so that we can organise
the event safely and with the least amount of congestion
etc. For a stsrt you will need to be on the Park by
10am on the morning you have (unless it is Sunday
and you have set up your stall on Saturday). This
gives you two hours to set-up.
If you do book both days, then dont worry about leaving
your stall overnight, we have security on the park
- although you should, of course, take your wares
with you overnight.
COLLECTIONS
Once you have set up on the park you can start to
look forward to people taking an interest in what
you have to say or offer, on behalf of your cause.
As a rule you are allowed to collect money and hand
literature out to the general public within a radius
of 10 metres from your base plot. It is for the general
public to come to you - not the other way round. We
want the public to enjoy our event and not feel they
are put upon every where they turn on the park.
AND THATS IT! Just complete the form to the right
and let us do the rest. If you have any other queries
then write them in the Extra
Information box on the form and we'll contact
you.
